Pohjolan Liikenne will start electric bus operations in Kotka in 2023

Our fleet operating between the Kotka city bus lines and between Kotka and Hamina will be completely upgraded to fully electric buses.

“Urban traffic will be driven by a total of 25 new-generation electric buses. The equipment is procured from the Netherlands, where electric bus production is of the highest European level, ” says Heikki Alanko, CEO of Pohjolan Liikenne.

Production of the new VDL-branded buses will start in late 2022 and will be operational in Kotka during 2023.

Pohjolan Liikenne currently has 85 electric buses in use in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

“We get a lot of good feedback on electric buses from both passengers and staff. Traveling is quieter and more comfortable, and buses do not produce any exhaust fumes in traffic. For years, we have invested heavily in environmentally friendly and low-emission traffic. Our goal is to be a pioneer in responsible bus traffic in Finland, ” Alanko says.
